Description
The biogas installation is used to transfer gasses formed by waste decomposition as fuel. Through a bacterial process (anaerobic decomposition of waste) methane gas is developed which is the actual fuel. For the decomposition process waste from animals, plants, garbage etc. can be used. Many know biogas because of its fuel application. In general we call it biogas but the methane content is only 40 to 70 %. Its byproducts (effluent) can be used as fertilizer and animal food. Another reason for applying biogas is pollution control.
The biogas plant consists of a digester and effluent ponds all connected with pipes. The plant we design is ferro cement which is durable and relatively cheap. It is a fixed done type in which the gas pressure can vary.
A digester fed by four or five medium sized pigs (40-50 kg) can supply cooking gas for three meals for a regular household.
