The ram is a very old technology which despite it being unbelievable, never had the real chance to spread since it had a wrong timing in history. During the Industrial Revolution machines had to be big fast and energy con-sumption didn't play a role. 

Only the last 30 years there is renewed interest in the technology caused by promotion and production of al-ternative models and the high energy prices. Unfortu-nately most of these models developed by Universities and Appropriate Technology groups were inferior in quality and their programs short-lived. 

AIDFI has been in ram pumps continuously for over 20 years and perfected a model based on local available parts and spare parts (door hinges). 

Its model is a combination of the commercial and alternative ram pumps available.
