AIDFI Hands over 2nd of 3 projects from the Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development

On January 18, AIDFI handed over the 2nd of 3 projects from the Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development to Brgy. Camandag in La Castellana, Negros Occidental. The Prince Talal International Prize is funded through the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) in which we won in the 4th category which was awarded during the COP27 in November 2022.


The ram pump water system features 1 unit 3" with 6 water kiosks and delivers 45,120 liters/day for drinking and domestic use, the system does not emit any greenhouse gasses. The installation started on October 9 and was completed on December 19, 2023. It benefits 185 beneficiaries and supplies water to 4 elementary schools (Camandag, Odiong, Cabandungga, and Cabadiangan), the daycare center, the barangay hall, and the health center.


The Texas Farmers and Farmworkers Association (TEFFAWA) organized on April 3, 2023, is the recipient of the project. The officers of the association have undergone capability skills training, as well as, local technicians from the community have been trained in troubleshooting and maintenance of the system.


During the handover ceremony, Ricky Masanit, the chairperson thanked AIDFI and the Prince Talal International Prize for the project which is "Great for livelihood and our daily activities". Remedios David, who is a member of TEFFAWA, shared that before the project "We spent many hours fetching water, even during the rainy season when the water would become muddy. The new generation will no longer experience what we have faced. Our situation has now been made easier, even in the evening you can wash your clothes and go to work the next day". AIDFI distributed as part of the prize 100 tabletop water filters to the household members of TEFFAWA and the schools, the daycare, the barangay hall, and the health center.
