AIDFI NRW Program completes household survey in E.B. Magalona

ree

The NRW program of AIDFI continued its activities after the training at Maynilad in June with representatives from E.B. Magalona Water Works and Murcia Water District. The household survey which is a vital activity in the holistic NRW program collects data from consumer households and businesses in each area with regards to water quality, quantity, affordability, and accessibility. It also collects information regarding leakages and how the water utility will be able to improve it services. The data collected is vital information needed for the crafting of the holistic NRW plan.

For the household survey, AIDFI trained 10 enumerators, some of whom came from communities where ram pumps were installed. On June 6 to 11, the enumerators had a workshop on mWater, which is the application used for surveys, and were trained on how to conduct the survey, which was done with the WASH consultant from the Netherlands.

On June 16, the enumerators were dispatched with a supervisor from AIDFI in E.B. Magalona and conducted household and company surveys in 12 barangays of the municipality served by the water utility. The surveys were completed on July 14 and in total 2,571 surveys were conducted.

The enumerators have now been dispatched to Murcia to conduct the same surveys with more or less 7,500 consumers targeted.

The household survey is part of a two-year collaborative program between AIDFI and its partner water utilities to study and properly manage the water utility’s NRW losses. The program is funded by the Coca-Cola Foundation, in line with its commitment to help ensure water sufficiency and safety for future generations.
