We are the Alternative Indigenous Development Foundation, an NGO based in the Philippines. Working out of Bacolod City since 1991, our focus is on helping the poorest rural communities through technological innovation, social enterprising and community development.
We envision a society where technology and development systems exist in harmony with nature and serve as foundation of growth and sustainable development where people live in abundance and happiness and where there is peace, freedom and equity.
Launched in November 2011 in partnership with Earth Day Network Philippines and the Coca Cola Foundation Philippines, the Agos Project features our ram pump as it's core component. We have exceeded the original goal of 100 projects, and are proud to continue to bring fresh water and fresh starts to over 160 Filipino communities and counting.
Better access to water results in fewer incidences of water-borne diseases in the communities and requires less time and effort spent on fetching water from distant sources, leading to improved health conditions and increased opportunities for income generation. The goal of the project was to build ram pump systems in 100 poor, upland communities in celebration of the 100 years of Coca-Cola in the Philippines.
